In most modern houses washing machines are now installed in the kitchen near the kitchen sink. Rather than having these uncovered house builders, kitchen designers and home owners choose to set the washing back into the kitchen units and place a door over the machine. This keeps the washing machine out of sight when not in use. A small magnet is usually used to keep the door safely closed while the washing machine is in use.

Magnets are extremely popular in modern kitchens as small neodymium magnets are extremely powerful and can be set into kitchen cupboards and fixtures.
